The painting “Light” arose from the artist’s personal experience. While working in his studio, he unexpectedly saw his own reflection: his face, illuminated by a bright light, stood out sharply against the backdrop of a dark, almost lifeless space. This fleeting visual experience became the starting point for creating a work that can be considered a kind of psychological self-portrait.

The work is executed in an abstract-figurative style, in which a recognizable human figure is combined with an expressive painterly language. The figure is deliberately stripped of details expressing individuality and thus becomes a universal symbol of an inner state. The single, clearly rendered eye becomes the focal point of the composition, its gaze fixed both on the viewer and inward toward the figure’s own inner self.

The contrast between the light, almost radiant figure and the dense, textured black background creates a tense, dramatic effect. Here, light functions not only as a physical phenomenon but also as a metaphor for inner enlightenment, self-knowledge, and spiritual presence. The dark space does not swallow up the image; on the contrary, it intensifies its inner radiance, emphasizing the fragility of human existence and the individual’s ability to preserve their inner light even in a state of solitude.
