Axis Mundi is based on the archetype of the world axis as an image of the essential center of the psyche. The symbolic structure of the painting refers to the unconscious layers of human experience, where individual and collective memory intersect. The painting functions as a visual mandala, a space of integration and inner ordering. The painting was created gradually from 2020 and I worked on it together with Joachim Käffer. The signatures of both authors are in the bottom corners.
