The painting depicts a time loop in which the lobster exists simultaneously as a whole and as a consumed object. Past, present, and consequence take place in one moment. The woman eats the lobster, but the act itself is not only about consuming food. It becomes an allegory of a society based on constant consumption - of things, images, experiences, and people. What is still untouched is already simultaneously taken apart. The aesthetic and almost calm atmosphere contrasts with the principle of destruction, which is present in the painting quietly and unobtrusively. Tim
