Impressionism with heart and soul.
Marina Dowden is an artist currently working in Prague. Her path to art was not a straightforward one; she began as a music teacher, continued as an English instructor, and eventually discovered her true passion: painting.
Nature, the sea, mountains, and the ever-changing play of light and color play a central role in her work. In her paintings, she captures the fleeting nature of the moment and the freedom offered by every brushstroke. She draws inspiration from travel, music, films, books, and her own memories. Her style is as changeable as the seasons, yet always authentic; she creates from the heart and for the heart.
She most often works with soft pastels, acrylics, and oils, and is most drawn to Impressionism. Marina Dowden’s paintings convey both delicacy and strength, calm and emotion, light and shadow.
“There are no walls in art. Only colors and freedom,” she says.
Her works have been featured in numerous exhibitions and festivals in the Czech Republic and abroad, from Luxembourg to Rome to Austrian monasteries. In 2025, she also exhibited at the Original Gallery in Prague.
In addition to painting, she also organizes painting evenings because she believes in the healing power of art.
For her, a painting is not merely decoration. It is a feeling. Time standing still. Personal freedom, transformed into color.
