My name is Milan Stria.

My grandfather was a painter, and I remember his studio as if it were yesterday. He mostly painted landscapes, and I’ll never forget the palettes full of dried paint—I just couldn’t take my eyes off them... I’ve spent practically my entire life traveling and living in various countries abroad. I started painting with oils in America and then in Ireland, and I put my paintings up for auction. After returning from my travels, life brought changes, and painting took a back seat... Now I’m returning to this endless world, and I’m bringing my new technique with me. To better give form to my experiences, stories, thoughts, and dreams, I had to go a step further, and I think I’ve finally succeeded. I work with resin, paints, pigments, various objects, and essentially every possible material—using them to gradually refine each piece until I reach my own vision of perfection. The result is a series of design-oriented paintings featuring objects, ideal for modern interiors. Almost every one of them comes with a story or an idea. I carefully select the objects and items for my paintings. In some paintings, the items are new; in others, where I need the energy of the past, that energy is released from old objects that people once used. However, I leave the final interpretation up to the new owner. For some, the piece will evoke a memory; for others, they’ll simply appreciate the idea and originality; and still others will appreciate the play of reflections and shadows cast by the objects under perfect lighting. It’s actually an endless game in an endless world, and I’m glad to be a part of it. There are as many themes and ideas as the world around us offers, and time marches on relentlessly...
