This painting is dominated by a wide-eyed cat whose gold dollar-shaped medallion symbolizes the obsession with wealth. Before him lies a goldfish – a symbol of granted wishes, but also of greed. The painting playfully depicts the human desire for possessions and questions whether accumulating things really makes us happy. It is one of three paintings from my new mini-series dealing with abundance, happiness, and also greed. In addition to acrylic colors, the work uses gold leaf (the background, the dollar).
