In the painting Voice of the street, rats take on the role of protesters reclaiming the right to a dignified life. Banners reading "Less poison, more cheese" or "Don’t pollute the sewers" sound comical at first glance, yet at the same time they mirror our own dissatisfactions and demonstrations. The grotesque here works as a mirror: what looks funny in rats feels almost painfully familiar in humans.
