The classic still life as a space of calm, order and symbolic abundance is here unexpectedly confronted with a symbol of strength, violence and trained aggression. The gloves, comparable in size to the apples, create a plane of absurd coexistence – and perhaps a silent conflict between the physical and the calm, between training and indulgence. The painting oscillates between baroque aesthetics and a contemporary conceptual gesture, which leaves the viewer in doubt: is it humor, or a metaphor?
