Karlsruhe, freelance artist in her own studio 2021 Member of BBK Karlsruhe Katharina Valeeva (° 1978, Kislovodsk, Russian Federation) creates paintings and drawings. Her paintings establish a connection between the reality of the landscape and the one presented by its creator. These works focus on concrete issues that define our existence, and her works are characterized by the use of everyday objects. Exploring the concept of landscape in a nostalgic way, she examines the dynamics of landscape, including the manipulation of its effects and the limits of spectacle, based on our assumptions about what landscape means to us. Rather than representing an actual reality, an illusion is invented to conjure the realms of our imagination, and her work is often about contact with nature, humans and their habitat. Energy (heat, light, water), space and landscape are explored in less obvious ways and sometimes alienated in aesthetic ways. Katharina Valeeva currently lives and works in Karlsruhe.
