He was born in Košice. He is a graduate of the Secondary Industrial School of Construction in Košice, TU Košice, Faculty of Construction and postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, TU Košice. He works as a designer of metallurgical aggregates. Although he is closer to technical drawing, he has always been drawn to painting. He completely fell into painting only in 2011, he also took a drawing course privately.
"His work ranks him among the leading contemporary artists. The moments of leisure spent in his studio painting on canvas, dominated by expressive colouring, have become an integral part of his life in recent years. He has meaningfully capitalized on his talent and diligence, which have helped him to develop his full creative potential. As a self-taught artist who was given the gift of translating reality into a work of art, his work has appealed to many art lovers. To questions like "why did you paint it like that", he likes to add a quote from a Czech film "look, I'm not organized anywhere, so I can paint what I want and how I want!" The originality of his works and artistic expression has been appreciated several times at prestigious exhibitions not only in the Košice region, but also in Slovakia, in Prague and Rzesów in Poland."
- Helga Tomondyová, art specialist, Košice, 2020 "Miroslav Kotor's paintings bear the characteristic features of European Expressionism of the early 20th century. His technique is saturated with energetic lines and coherent colour, which are an integral part of well-built compositions.
