I have been painting and drawing since I was a child, but I never aspired to an art education. Our family was rather practical and an artistic career seemed unrealistic. My only preparation was art classes at primary school. I studied mechanical engineering and became a technician. I worked as a designer and as a technologist and it seemed like the right thing to do. I enjoyed my work, and there was plenty of time for hobbies. Besides painting, it was astronomy and science fiction. In the early 1990s, several of my pictures appeared on the front pages of Ikaria and other science fiction magazines. When I joined the Prague Planetarium as a professional staff member, I considered it a dream come true. I worked closely with Marcel Gr n, the popularizer of cosmonautics and later the director of the planetarium. I spent more than twenty years there. I was mainly involved in astronomy programmes for children. If you went there with your parents or school class to see Anne and Sky, the Crystal Setters, the Elf or Babette the Comet, you met my pictures inadvertently. It's different now. However, on this website I would like to focus on my own work, especially oil paintings or watercolours and pencil drawings. Thank you for the favour you show me. Yours Peter
