Roland Rommel
Francie 🇫🇷
Roland grew up in Switzerland and has always had to face changing situations due to economic cycles. In the seventies, architects in Switzerland had a hard time due to federal regulations and so he slid gently from the artistic to the economic track. This was followed by additional training and further education with a federal diploma, which, in conjunction with the architect, was an extraordinary symbiosis for the value of a property. He was also appointed by the government as a judge for real estate-related disputes. At his professional peak as a director in one of the world's leading auditing and consulting firms, he decided in spring 2004 to pursue his personal goals in order to continue his personal development while living in the south of France. He found his way back to his former hobbies of painting, music as a reproducer and singer of pop music from the 1960s onwards and, thanks to the support and exchange with a Swiss artist in June 2022, the art of welding whimsical mythical creatures out of scrap metal. Painting is a form of liberation and relaxation for him, but also a personal success. His home is full of works that are looking for a new home. He is financially independent to the extent that his sales prices are calculated in such a way that half of the price demonstrably goes to starving people in this world. The rest covers the cost of the paints and canvas, shipping to the gallery and the costs of the gallery. It is important to him that he can bring joy to someone through his work and help to alleviate need in the world. I find his works witty and fresh, sometimes melancholy and with a high decorative appeal.
