Welcome to my corner of this internet gallery. I come from Olomouc and, before I settled in Ostrava, I travelled around the world a bit. Two years in Devon, England and ten years in a small town in British Columbia, Canada. I have been painting in various forms since I came to Canada. I guess all that beauty had to be captured somehow. I also had plenty of wildlife around the house, so it's not surprising that it became the subject of my work for a time. Inspiration has been plentiful over the years, but in the end the landscape "won" as it can be captured on the spot in the day and its conditions. There is a certain liveliness to it. Plein air (read plein air) or painting in the field is a kind of adrenaline sport where I have about an hour or two to capture what is in front of me, the subject I have chosen. It can be somewhat compared to juggling about ten plates on high poles. If one of them stops spinning, it falls. Similarly, a lot of decisions go into the painting with each move, and weather conditions, wildlife, people passing by, etc. add to the adrenaline. But at the same time, painting outdoors is a great outlet in nature. In the gallery of my paintings you will find both, paintings done in the field and those done in the studio. These were preceded by a sketch on location or a photo or both. In the studio it is possible to enlarge the subject to a larger format. On several occasions I have been asked to paint on commission. I don't do it primarily, but I don't resist it. If you are interested in painting a particular place, house or a portrait of a loved one or pet, please feel free to contact Online Gallery.
