Ivana Brázdová

It looked like her life was going to go in a completely different direction. The Budějovice painter Ivana Brázdová graduated from the School of Economics and stayed in the field for 12 long years. But the inner desire was stronger and the breakthrough came in 2017, when she began to devote herself fully to painting. Her work is varied, but at the same time characterized by rich shades of colors, which are the main dominant. They evoke atmosphere, mood, emotion.....colors resonate in the paintings. The undefined style and motif depict different states of the artist's inner self, which she tries to transfer into her works. Some paintings without noticeable brushstrokes, are in obvious contrast to paintings that are more impressionistic. This contradiction also characterizes her work. Her modern approach to painting combines both oil and acrylic paints. She plays with mixing these media while creating lighting effects using metallic sprays. A sunset, a boat on the sea or a colourful landscape, affect the viewer of the painting, evoking harmony and connection with the place depicted. "In my abstract work, I focus primarily on the idea and theme presenting a given image, which you can always understand from its title. Such as motifs from Eastern philosophies or a painting combining the style of Kupka, Rothko and Mondrian together", suggests Ivana Brázdová. The use of metallic pigments to create a dynamic, sometimes rather dreamy effect is becoming an integral part of her work. Ivana is also the illustrator of the novel Top Secret by Sensuela Perez.
