Contemporary Cubist Landscapes

Welcome to my profile.

In my work, I focus on the contemporary Cubist landscape. I am inspired primarily by the landscape itself—its light, colors, and ever-changing nature—ranging from the Czech countryside to the Mediterranean coast of southern France.

I do not attempt to capture reality exactly as we see it. I break the landscape down into shapes, swaths of color, and textures, and then reassemble it based on my own experience, memories, and imagination. Thus, a specific place gives rise to a painting that is not an exact representation of it, but rather its feeling and atmosphere.

Cubism appeals to me because of its ability to change the way we perceive space. I combine its principles with intuitive painting, bold colors, and a search for balance between order and spontaneity.

For me, every painting emerges as a journey. Some elements are planned in advance, while others emerge only as I paint. The result is a unique record of a moment in which the real landscape merges with the inner landscape.

I do not want to impose a single meaning on the viewer. I like to leave room for personal interpretation, memories, and emotions. I believe that a painting comes truly to life the moment the viewer discovers something of their own within it.
