Pavel Filin (* July 14, 1964, Zelenodolsk, Russia) is a painter. He works with drawing and oil painting.
He continued his studies at the Higher School of Arts and Crafts and knew during his studies that his next path would lead to the Moscow Academy, where he studied painting. His work focuses on oil painting with a spatula. He paints mainly portraits, but also landscapes, cities, still lifes, etc.
Pavel Filin uses the squeegee painting technique and also experiments with it and combines it with other techniques. He focuses mainly on portraits, in which he is able to express human emotions with frightening perfection. While working on portrait and figure painting he began to study human anatomy, and as he said: "Painting does not need any 'literary' interpretation or commentary, because it is itself the carrier of all information. Art has only and only a visual effect. People often ask me where I get my ideas from." If people don't understand his work, no words will help them. Emotions and moods can be found in his paintings through the combination of unrelated colours and the play of light and shadow. He is most fascinated by the human figure and the aforementioned play of colours.
He has been working in the Czech Republic since 2005.
