Nerozhodná (Undecided)

Description

A figure walks toward the light. Around her are poppies, blue flowers, and white crowns; above, an orange sky and birds. None of this is drawn down to the very last detail. The wax has left it soft, like a dream that hasn’t yet faded.

Painted with an iron and hot wax on a hardboard panel. Encaustic holds the color within the material; up close, you can see the layers, the drips, and the baked-in light. The painting is in a white frame.

For the bedroom and living room. It calls for a wall where one can stand for a moment. An evening lamp brings out the wax.

Original.
