Šílený jako mlha a sníh (Crazy as fog and snow)

Description

Mad as Mist and Snow (acrylic and oil on canvas, 35 cm x 50 cm, 2024). The painting is inspired by William Butler Yeats’s poem “Mad as Mist and Snow.” Shut the shutters and bolt them, for evil winds are blowing. Tonight, of all nights, our minds are at their sharpest, and it seems to me that I know: everything outside of us is mad as mist and snow. Next to Homer stands Horace, below him Plato, and here lies an open page of Cicero’s work. How many years ago were you and I still uneducated boys—mad as mist and snow? You ask, my old friend, why I sigh and why I tremble so? I tremble and sigh at the thought that even Cicero and the multifaceted Homer were as mad as fog and snow.
