Description

The Tribal Council captures one of the most powerful and emotional moments in the reality show *Survivor*—the decisive moment when each player’s fate is sealed. It is a symbolic trial, a place of truth, tension, and an inevitable confrontation with one’s own destiny. Each contestant arrives with a torch that represents their life in the game—their hope, strength, and right to continue.

The moment their name is chosen by the other tribe members, the ritual of extinguishing the torch begins—a silent yet powerful act of symbolic death. The contestant leaves the island as a loser, and their journey ends. Yet this image transcends the competition itself. The Tribal Council becomes a metaphor for life, because each of us faces moments when a single decision changes the course of our entire journey. These are the moments that determine whether we continue, fall, or start anew.

The painting is part of the artist’s series *The Birth of a Lion* (2024), a collection of twelve paintings inspired by the artist’s personal experiences before participating in *Survivor*, during his stay on the island, and after returning to everyday life. The entire series captures the inner transformation of a person confronted with extreme conditions, their own limits, and newly discovered strength.

The work was created based on authentic sketches made during quarantine on an island in the Dominican Republic, right during the filming of *Survivor*. The painting is a pure reflection of the artist’s personal experience and inner vision, painted without a model, based solely on his own memory, emotions, and imagination. This is precisely why it carries a powerful atmosphere of both reality and mysticism, drawing the viewer into the space between life and death, hope and the end.
