Description
A lush bouquet of peonies. Abstract; impasto painting with a palette knife. Colors: carmine, purple, and white, on an earthy, neutral background. Acrylic on canvas, 90 × 90 cm
The bouquet leaps out into the space. Impressionistic brushstrokes and the use of a palette knife lend the blossoms a three-dimensional quality, with burgundy centers contrasting with white edges. Drops of paint run down the background. These peonies embody both passion and elegance—they are not meant to be found in a quiet flower bed. The viewer is meant to feel the weight of the flower, its luster, and the movement that does not stop at a single petal.
