Originally, I had planned to start with paintings that are dear to my heart or have already been sold—that is, those that are no longer for sale—but I see that *Melancholy* is actually the last one. So in the end, this will be a sort of mix of mine… He Left II… oil on canvas. Women in particular probably feel a breakup with a partner more deeply than men do… so I tried to paint that despair, futility, anger… a sense of betrayal, exploitation, and abuse… but I’m not a woman, so I can only guess based on my own personal experience—like the last time I walked down a certain flight of stairs, leaving my apartment keys on the shoe rack or in the mailbox…
