A professional painter and self-taught artist since 1995, whose real name is Daniel Jiřička, was born in 1969 in Lomnice, near the Krkonoše Mountains. There, they call him Dalí. By the age of eleven, he already knew exactly what he wanted to do for a living. But then a family tragedy struck.
“I wanted to become a painter as early as fifth grade, when I saw an exhibition of paintings by the famous artist Josef Kábrt, which completely captivated me, and I told myself that this was what I wanted to do with my life. But a few months later, my brother found our father dead. He had poisoned himself with gas. I never really recovered from that tragedy, and it’s actually haunted me my whole life,” says Daniel, who in 2019 took his mother’s maiden name and now officially creates art under the name Daniel Geremus.
Exhibitions of his paintings were held in Jilemnice (1998),
Lomnice nad Popelkou (2001, 2009, 2014),
Hradec Králové (2005),
Weistrach (Austria, 2007),
Ktová (2008), Semily (2010),
in Vítkov (2012), and that same year at the Lomnice chateau.
In Lomnice nad Popelkou, I have also held several exhibitions in the former savings bank building, specifically in July and November 2017, July 2018, and July 2019.
In 2017, I had a solo exhibition at Třebíč Castle.
My works were also on display in Melbourne, Australia.
In 2019, I held an exhibition in Lázně Bělohrad, followed by two exhibitions in Prague: one in February at the Činoherní kavárna and another in May at the Galerie u Zlatého kohouta. That same year, I participated in international exhibitions, specifically in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, as part of the III. -1- Expo International; in Kyoto, Japan, as part of the international festival -1- Quake Kyoto 2019; and in Bratislava.
