Jarmila Sítníková

Jarmila Sítníková (*1948, Teplice), painter and ceramic artist. A longtime ceramic artist, she now devotes herself to acrylic painting full of stories and humor. Every year, she creates a poster for the Zlín Film Festival for Children and Youth. View her paintings at Original Gallery.

The artist graduated from the Secondary Industrial School of Ceramics in Bechyně. She has been surrounded by art her entire life; for many years she devoted herself to ceramics, which remains close to her heart, and she has worked in ceramics factories as well as in marketing.  Currently, she focuses primarily on painting with acrylics. Her paintings are more like storytelling, light-hearted musings, and humor than classical works of art. She paints for her own enjoyment and that of her viewers, with a light touch, a touch of exaggeration, and a kind view of the world. Typical themes include everyday situations, human relationships, animals, and fantastical motifs presented with irony and optimism.Every year, she contributes to the Film Clapperboard Salon at the Zlín Film Festival (International Film Festival for Children and Youth); since 2010, she has created 16 original clapperboards that have become part of this prestigious showcase.  Jarmila Sítníková lives and creates, finding joy in the process and in meeting people who find a smile and a story in her paintings.
