Lena Bay is a Czech visual artist originally from northwestern Bohemia, where she also creates her art. In her work, she focuses primarily on oil painting, in which she combines realistic and figurative elements with a gently dreamlike atmosphere, symbolism, and a distinctive use of light.
In addition to visual art, she is also active in music as a singer and songwriter. For her, these two creative fields are naturally interconnected and represent different ways of expressing emotions, personal experiences, and stories. While in music these find expression through words and melody, in painting they transform into color, light, symbolism, and atmosphere.
Her paintings are characterized by a distinctive atmosphere, a sensitive color palette, and a narrative that often straddles the line between reality and imagination. Her aim is not merely to capture reality, but above all to capture an emotional experience that can take on a form of its own within the painting.
Themes of inner strength, vulnerability, loneliness, hope, and the search for light in difficult moments of life recur throughout her work. Other prominent motifs include the inner child, imagination, authenticity, and sensitivity—qualities that remain within a person despite life’s experiences.
The symbolism in her works remains intentionally open, leaving room for individual interpretation. Each painting can carry its own story while allowing the viewer to find their own meaning, memory, or emotion within it.
Lena Bay’s work is represented in private collections. She has presented her work, for example, in a solo exhibition in the historic Meder House in Žatec and in other exhibition projects.
