Lucie Amálie

My name is Lucie—I paint, create sculptures, illustrate, and am interested in interior design, graphic design, and writing. I studied Animated Film Production at Tomáš Baťa University. After studying animation, I worked at a production studio in Zlín, where I created animations, storyboards, and scripts… Then a great job opportunity came up in Prague—the position of Art Director at the advertising agency Loosers. I spent four wonderful years at Loosers, and thanks to the trust they placed in me, I learned a great deal both professionally and personally. As a lone wolf, the arrival of my daughter Amálka prompted me to move on, stand on my own two feet, and become what I am today—an illustrator of books and magazines, a painter, a designer…

My inspiration comes from “dreams.” They are the driving force behind my paintings and minimalist sculptures. At night, I live a second life—I dream, both lucidly and non-lucidly. One dream after another, all night long. I can influence the stories in my dreams, decide what I’ll dream about, step out of a dream and continue it another time… Or I can just let the dreams flow and be surprised by what my subconscious brings. I then capture the emotions from my dreams in my artwork...
