Robin Stříbný

A painter from Klatovy who breathes life into history. I was born in Klatovy in 1974, and from a very young age I discovered the joy of creating, which I developed at the art school on Plánická Street. I began to express my artistic talent more intensely during my military service, when I was fortunate enough to learn from Klatovy-based painter Jindřich Bílek, who became my mentor.

I most often paint in oils on canvas, which allows me to immerse myself deeply in texture and color. At the same time, however, I am constantly experimenting with new techniques to push the boundaries of my artistic expression.

My main contribution is my original interpretation of portraits of the Virgin Mary of Klatovy, which reflect my fascination with the Baroque influences of the old Klatovy painting workshops. I believe that art should evoke emotions and tell stories. That is why, for me, the most important thing in every painting is to infuse it with life and emotion, to the extent that my inspiration allows.

I am proud that some of my works are part of the collections of the Dr. Hostaš Regional History Museum in Klatovy, as noted in the publication *Painters Under the Black Tower*.

Recently, I’ve had the honor of contributing to the preservation of the cultural heritage of Klatovy and the surrounding area through the completion of two significant projects:

• A painting of St. Ignatius for the Klatovy Catacombs: A project that allowed me to combine my passion for history with the restoration of a sacred space.

• A painting of St. Nicholas for the church in Šitboř: A work that enriched the church’s sacred space and built upon local traditions.
