“I was looking for paintings I’d want to live with. Today, I create them.”
Romana Šimáně is a Czech contemporary abstract artist who combines painting, emotion, and the atmosphere of a space. In her work, she explores how a work of art affects people and how it can transform the environment in which we live, relax, and interact with others. She perceives a painting as a natural part of an interior that brings a distinctive mood, depth, and character to everyday life.
For her, abstraction is a language that allows her to express feelings and sensations that are difficult to put into words. She works with acrylic paint, fluid art techniques, layering, and relief textures, which she complements with selected materials. Her paintings are created as original works of art with an emphasis on color, texture, light, and their overall impact in a space. They are intended for both private interiors and architectural projects, hotels, and other prestigious settings.
A significant part of her body of work is *The Path of Light*, a large-scale installation consisting of 27 paintings, created for a four-star design hotel. This project demonstrates how contemporary art can naturally complement architecture and become part of the overall interior concept.
The “Path of Light” series comprises five collections, each representing a different form of light and its effects. "Geometry of Silence" brings order and harmony; "Depth of Light" and "Silence in Motion" capture energy and changeability; while "Golden Flow" and "New Dawn" open up a space of freedom, lightness, and new beginnings.
This body of work is followed by her current series, Whispers of the Earth, inspired by the natural elements—wood, water, fire, earth, and wind. In it, Romana Šimáně seeks a way to bring the essence of nature into contemporary interiors. Through colors, textures, and ever-changing forms, she captures nature’s inherent beauty and creates works that bring a sense of closeness to nature into any space.
Her works find a place in both private homes and professionally designed interiors, where they become a distinctive element of the overall space.
In Romana Šimáň’s work, contemporary abstraction meets a sensitive perception of the environment. Her paintings are not merely a visual element of the interior, but also a means of lending the space its own atmosphere and creating a place where people feel at ease.
