Salome Kovarski

Salome Kovarski began painting during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her small watercolor paintings of trees and landscapes gradually evolved into realistic life-size or larger-than-life portraits, characterized by high contrast and vibrant colors. The artist is not afraid to challenge the traditional notion of light-colored watercolor flower paintings; she uses chiaroscuro and achieves a quality in her paintings that rivals that of oil paintings. She achieves a high degree of realism and three-dimensionality through dozens of layers of paint. The artist loves depicting people engaged in everyday activities, celebrations, or rituals. She is drawn to other cultures and traditions, as well as their histories. She draws inspiration from her travels around the world, storytelling, films, books, and the works of other painters. Recently, Salomee has embarked on a new path of expressive and realistic paintings created with oil paints.
