Jiří Srna

I am an artist from the Czech Republic. I am 63 years old. I deal with drawing, painting, graphics, cartooning and cartoon humour. I studied painting and graphics at the Technical University in Liberec (professor Lukrecie Škaloudová). I have published two books of funny drawings and contributed my work to many books. My drawings are published in two magazines, Tapir and Rybářství. My work has been regularly published in the Turkish magazine Fena Mizah. I have received thirty honorable mentions and awards in cartoon competitions all over the world. My drawings have been exhibited and awarded in Canada, Poland, Slovakia, Croatia, Turkey, South Korea, India, Argentina, Italy, France ... Many of my exhibitions have not been organized because of my physical disability, I am paralyzed in the lower half of my body and confined to a wheelchair. I have participated with my drawings in many collective exhibitions, including the National Library in Paris. My drawings are created using mixed media, pencil, ink, pastel, watercolor. Approximately 2,000 drawings have been printed in magazines and newspapers. I try to make my drawings witty, light humorous, interested in the connections of seemingly unrelated things. I am a member of the Czech Union of Cartoonists and the Union of Visual Artists of the Czech Republic, membership number 2016031601.
