Krasava Šerkopová

I would like to introduce myself a little bit.I am 61 years old, but since I was young I have been tempted to create something, and when my creations, be it wire or pictures, make someone happy, it always makes me happy.I grew up in Prague, but life took me to different places, now I live in East Bohemia and for 16 years I have been living in the New Castle near Lanškroun, which I take care of as a volunteer castellan. I have worked with wire before, but when I started to work with wirework I thought that the exhibition at the castle would be more suitable for things that used to be made by wireworkers and I started to learn the procedures that used to be used to wire mainly utilitarian, now also decorative objects. For over 20 years I have been making mainly wire, which gives many possibilities of expression. Whether I am making smaller home accessories such as candle holders, Christmas ornaments or year-round decorations, or more elaborate and larger pieces, I always strive for the best possible quality in the workmanship, and also have the decorations treated with a quality anti-rust finish.If I am creating with copper wire, this is not necessary of course, as it is lacquered, yet I am now newly using the option of the so-called ,,rainbow,, coating, also on things made of brown, copper wire. Every year I participate in several different exhibitions, both with fellow wireworkers and art exhibitions where painters and other artists exhibit, also in various museums, and I have organized several exhibitions.Even though I am sometimes limited by health problems, which echo after three spinal surgeries, especially my hands are bad, I have a congenital defect and three vertebrae already screwed together in my cervical spine, and my hands have been bad all my life, I still try to do everything very carefully and use all my experience.I most like to do something a little bigger, like half-metre and larger guardian angels, or various abstract and concrete works, and I hope that this rather laborious creation will not only make its new owners happy, but also bring peace, relaxation and reflection.Sometimes when working with wire just isn't an option, I pursue my other hobby and that is colour. I have been lured by the possibilities of acrylic paints and I create images using various techniques that these paints allow.I like to combine different techniques and find new ones, it's a nice relaxation, the joy of creating and the beauty of colours and expressing the mood, I try to make the pictures look pleasant, evoke a good mood and well-being.And every time someone likes the picture, feels good about it and is pleased, I am happy because that is what I like about art. That it conveys to others what also feels good and pleases me.Because I have been doing charity work for over 10 years, I am glad that my art helps those in need, and recently I have been giving some of my art to the bazaar of the foundation Šance onkoláčkům (Chance for Cancer), and I am pleased that it sells well there and helps sick children to get what they need, but what a family of several people would not have. Artwork not only gives me pleasure and strength, but the fact that I can still help those in need is a great encouragement.
