Description
MOIRAI is an original painting of three faces, acrylic on canvas, 100 cm wide, 100 cm high. It is neither a print nor a copy.
In the center is a large face with red eyes. On the left is a woman’s profile; on the right, a seated woman wearing glasses, her hand resting on her chin. Butterflies and a blue snake surround the scene.
It needs a bare wall.
The work is inspired by the Greek Moirai, the three goddesses who determined the course of human life. Clotho spun the thread of life, Lachesis measured its length, and Atropos cut it. Their presence is evoked here by the trio of female faces and their piercing gaze, which seems to perceive the past, present, and future all at once.
The butterflies and layers of vibrant colors symbolize transformation, fragility, and the unpredictability of life. The ornamental circles may evoke the ever-turning wheels of fate. The painting thus intertwines beauty with mystery and poses the question of whether our story is predetermined or whether we help shape it through our decisions.
