The list is endless and perfectly organized. And nothing is complete. The painting is aware of this: the more the structure piles up below, the more the face hovers above it, overseeing a project that is constantly expanding rather than coming to a close. The perfectionist’s trap—it is not laziness, but quite the opposite.
