I asked God a question that had been bothering me since childhood: “Where does the universe end?” And God laughed and replied, “I keep a few peacocks in my garden, and they take care of an entire galaxy.” (He pointed to one of them, which had just spread its feathers.) “Well, look—you’re living on this one right now!” I was confused by this, and God noticed. He said to me, “You’re not the only one who’s been racking your brain over this.” And he added ironically, “Please, don’t say a word to the astrophysicists about my pets. An explanation like that wouldn’t be enough for them…” The peacocks began to sing. I returned to Earth and read an article about another solar flare.
