Description
Gray and purple are intertwined here. Beneath them, yellow, vermilion, and pink—like remnants of the day that the thicket kept from reaching the light. The painting cannot be taken in at a single glance. The eye gets lost in it.
Subject: a non-representational all-over composition. Close to a thicket, a tangle of branches, a city at night. None of this is fully depicted.
Style: Abstract Expressionism. Pastose acrylic, short strokes, linear gouges through the paint.
From a distance, a darker, restless wall. Up close, yellow and red threads in gray, a build-up, a groove. It goes well with concrete, anthracite, and dark wood. In a completely white room, it will look harsh—and that is exactly what it is meant to do.
