Description
The larger torso conveys the same movement as in *In the Whirl of Dance*: the body is slightly twisted, as if the dance remained in the wood even without the head and hands. The growth rings encircle the hips and abdomen, giving the sculpture a soft, lively rhythm. The light-colored wood is better suited for indoor display, but the form is robust enough to withstand outdoor conditions for a while. The viewer is meant to sense the twist, the tension in the waist, and the calm that remains after the dance.
figurative woodcarving; simplified dance form
Material: light-colored wood; intended primarily for indoor use, though it can withstand outdoor conditions for a short time.
Based on the composition *In the Whirl of Dance*.
