Description
The first light is not yet day.
Four geese. Two on the left, two huddled together on the right. Ochre beaks, eyes like black dots. The sky is heavy. The grass is already firm. They’re looking at us, not toward the east.
From a distance, white tips against the green.
Up close, thick feathers, a trail through the grass.
Into the kitchen, the hallway, the living room. Toward the wood. It carries both the countryside and the city wall.
Original.
