The painting Conversations with God turns the well-known biblical story upside down – Moses here is not the listener of God's voice, but the one who silences it. A bucket of water aimed at the burning bush becomes a symbol of human fear of the transcendent, of the challenge that comes from within or from heaven. Instead of acceptance comes the instinct to extinguish – to control, deny, erase. The painting thus opens current questions: are we still able to hear something beyond our framework? And do we even want to hear?
