Description
The face is pieced together from scraps.
One cheek is white, the other gray, with a yellow wedge across the eye. The hairstyle is that of a geisha; the jacket is made of old fabrics—a horse, a rose, a stripe. Japan here isn’t a quote from a textbook. It’s a passion that pieced together this figure from what was left in a drawer.
From a distance, a pink rectangle with a black silhouette of hair.
Up close: stitching, edging, a floral weave. For the living room and hallway. Next to smooth acrylic, it will be soft and different. That’s where it belongs.
An original. A fabric collage on polystyrene.
