Description
Ayni is the first work in an ethnically inspired series dedicated to the living traditions, culture, and human stories of various countries. The painting turns its gaze to Peru: to its mountains, ancient roots, and everyday life, where childhood soon gives way to responsibility.
The title Ayni sounds like a girl’s name and also refers to the ancient Andean concept of reciprocity—the connection between a person and their family, land, animals, and traditions. Her gaze blends childhood with early responsibility. The painting conveys the true life of Peru—beautiful, challenging, and filled with quiet dignity.
