Description
Rosana de Montfort, oil on canvas, 60 × 80 cm.
A figurative painting depicting a girl in a contemplative pose. She is sitting, resting her head on her hand and observing her surroundings—she wants to be among people and be seen, but without direct interaction. Loose brushstrokes and soft transitions create an atmosphere of intimacy and detachment.
Olive green, umber (brown), and warm beige-cream tones dominate, giving the work the feel of a period painting. The light is subdued, interior lighting, with subtle reflections on the skin and fabric.
I tried to capture the girl’s contemplation—she wants to be among people, to be seen, but she doesn’t want any interaction. Just to sit there and observe the world and the people in it.
