Description
In the painting *Cukrování*, Vlastimil Peška depicts a rain of sugar cubes falling from a giant hand. A couple sits on one of the blocks, holding a colorful umbrella over themselves—a small island of safety in the midst of a sweet deluge.
The artist’s characteristic surrealist and slightly naive style is employed here with a touch of hyperbole: the protection that people can create for themselves even in a world that is oversaturated. The red background keeps the entire scene poised between joy and absurdity.
A hand-painted original that brings lightness, humor, and a quiet question to any interior: what are we willing to accept when we have a loved one by our side?
P.S. I don’t feel the need to explain this naive painting titled “Cukrování.” It’s simply a painting meant to bring joy.
