Rosana de Montfort is a native of Ostrava, who has been working since early childhood under the influence of mentors, role models and teachers such as Karel Žaluda, Věra Špánová-Boudníková, Jiří Stejskal, David John Lloyd, Jaroslav Domiter and Ladislav Maria Wagner.
She is driven by the strange messages she inserts into her works, like words in a diary. The testimonies she leaves in her canvases are based on her own view of the world through opposites. "What is, does not exist; what is not, can be." When it comes to styles, he does not limit himself to a trend or a fashion wave. Sometimes he chooses to paint unrealistic things realistically, and conversely, he creates the real world with quick dynamic brushstrokes. The mediums he uses for his paintings are mostly canvas, acrylics, oil paints, synthetics, sand and plaster, varnishes and pencils. In sculpture and painting he prefers materials such as expansive foam, acrylic, glass, cement, polyurethane, aluminum and wood. Her current secondary dwelling in Novojičín has become home to her skills in architecture and interior design, where she interweaves century-old wooden structures with modern minimalism.
Living permanently abroad since 1991 has offered her a rich development through interactivity with a multicultural society, making her fluent in many languages. Collections of her art can be found in private collections, but also in corporate spaces in many countries. It is in the UK that she has been able to reach the widest audience while developing her style with several new modern techniques and media. As well as classical painting, she also created sculptures, street and large-scale murals. This was followed by exhibitions and commissions for art but also music production for British TV channels such as Channel U, BBC Channel 4 and Lion TV.
She currently exhibits around 100 paintings in the Czech Republic, organises art classes and teaches at a grammar school. As co-owner of DE MONTFORT Ltd, she works with international institutions, galleries and collectors to change life around her for the better. Through her participation in non-profit projects, she has received several awards including recognition from the White House and awards from the San Francisco City Council and the City of Beale. She has been awarded several prizes for her participation in international art competitions.
In her spare time, she assists in the development of the City of Bílovec's cultural program by leading art projects and exhibitions at MonAmi Gallery and Mortiz Gallery.
