My main focus is as a painter and sculptor I'm typically self-taught, but as I keep realizing, I've always drawn. As a kid I was always carrying a pencil and drawing everything. From about age 10 to 16 I taught myself to paint from books and trial and error style. From the mid 70's I studied art with the academic painter Josef Kremláček, then I gained artistic experience with two of the best painters in the Czech Republic, Josef Jíra and Jan Bauch. These two artistic giants taught me discipline and certain techniques and rules. However, about 20 years ago I experienced something strange - a kind of movement in my mind, I just suddenly knew that I had to do this differently. That I had to be my own person and not forever look to someone else's theories and thus wander away from my own thought being and wander from one artistic instruction to another. By gradually accepting myself and accepting my inner mentor within me, I began to work with my subconscious. I stripped my paintings of mindless learned rules as much as possible and gave space to my inner intuition, imagination, fantasy and abstraction. Instead of boring the viewer with general rules and showing everything by the shovelful, I now give them space to dream based on colourful imagery and strong colour harmonies that take up space without putting anyone to sleep.-List of solo exhibitionsSince 1963 I have exhibited at almost all regional exhibitions held in the Trebic district.
