Description
A combined layering technique featuring a impasto texture, circular gestural strokes, incisions into layers of paint, and the overlapping of metallic, earthy, and cool hues. For most of their existence, these universes were separate.
Each had its own matter, its own time, and its own laws, which its inhabitants considered the only possible ones.
Then the distance between them began to shrink.
The painting captures the first phase of this process. The individual circular structures represent universes and their gravitational and causal fields. Initially, they exist independently, but gradually their boundaries deform, overlap, and penetrate one another.
For their inhabitants, the first signs were almost imperceptible. The probability of certain events changed. In several places, time began to flow differently. Particles appeared that, according to local physical laws, should not have existed.
Then the messages began to arrive.
And eventually, their senders arrived as well.
What was supposed to be the greatest encounter between intelligent life in history, however, simultaneously paved the way for a conflict that neither civilization could win on its own.
Because when the universes began to touch, their inhabitants realized for the first time that they were not alone.
And shortly thereafter, they discovered something far more dangerous:
not all universes want to remain separate.
