Technique: Saphea Phenomenal Spatial™️ 120–60–6 cm, Babylon 2024 series. A sculptural object with a dense central core, a tactile relief, and a surface that reacts to light, changing its appearance throughout the day. A sculpture I’ve been working on for many months now—an image that carries a mix of emotions—when I had to stop for a moment, take a breath, and for the first time in my life, as someone condemned to eternal perfectionism, because ever since early childhood, when no one took my feelings into account, let alone what I like—I, Snow White from the third floor, as my neighbors call me—wasn’t even allowed to have a hamster, let alone a real experience. My own shortcomings haunt me like a hunter.
The canvas is my safe haven, a place where I can finish with the feeling: Wow, I’ve created a perfect painting. When I look at Valentina—whether it’s the painting or the eyes of my wonderful daughter—I am free for a moment. I am unique, unconditionally loved, exactly as I am. That is why this gem bears the name of my most perfect creation: my daughter.
