Description

A collage on a wooden panel with an original underpainting. Fragments and organic shapes are first painted with acrylics and then finished with pastels; the background is black, white, or bronze. The composition takes shape as the pieces are glued together, and chance plays a part in the final result. The painting is titled Flora. In ancient Rome, she was the goddess of spring, flowers, and gardens. The collage, in shades of green, moss, and ochre, alludes to growth and the awakening of spring, rather than to a literal depiction of the figure.
