Painting just sort of came to me on its own. I’d always wanted to try it, but I never had the time. I didn’t start painting until my children had grown up and I allowed myself to completely change my life. I moved to England, and once I learned to slow down and take things at a more leisurely pace, painting came naturally. At first, it was simply a need to express the inner contentment and peace I’d found. A need for color. And so I began with abstraction. It’s amazing how colors can express emotions and convey your feelings to someone else. Later, I moved on to painting realistic objects as well, though the use of color and expressiveness remain. Now I’m also taking painting classes in Spain, where I’ve found my place—a small town by the sea where life flows calmly and slowly, and the colors are “breathtaking” all year round. I can no longer imagine my life without painting. You perceive the things around you through different eyes; you feel the need to express your inner world, your emotions… and then you sit down at the canvas, prepare the colors that resonate with you, and begin to create. At that moment, I stop perceiving the world around me.
