Abstract paintings are works of art that fit into any interior, even lush historical settings. Don't believe it? Let's break it down!
Painting and interior design are two activities that are much more related than they might seem at first glance. For example, a movement such as abstraction is the aesthetic origin of two popular interior design styles - art deco and minimalism. And if you want to buy a painting to decorate your home, abstraction remains the best choice for any modern style.
There is a general opinion that abstraction is any painting that cannot be attributed to the realistic manner. From this perspective, paintings in the spirit of futurism and cubism are quite suitable for those who want to buy a painting - abstraction for decorating their home space.
However, abstraction as a movement originated as early as 1910 as a natural way of developing cubism and expressionism. Wassily Kandinsky is considered the forerunner of the movement. At the beginning of the twentieth century, his works were a real revolution. But even today they strike the imagination, they are aimed at the observer and ask him to think in his own way. Of course, only a wealthy collector or museum can buy a painting by the founder of abstraction today. But you can commission a work by a contemporary artist to decorate your interior, and it doesn't have to be world-renowned.
Returning to the history of this movement, it should be noted that abstraction was a kind of reaction to those revolutionary changes that were taking place in all spheres of social life at the beginning of the twentieth century. Therefore, these paintings cannot be considered as a kind of decorative composition. They are spirited, impulsive, even dramatic. And so even works written a hundred years ago remain relevant. Moreover, despite widespread misconception, they are well suited to residential interiors. And in modern, modernist or any other style, even classical.
You can look at some such works for hours, they will become a dominant feature of the interior. Therefore, before you buy an abstract painting, you need to think about where to place it, how harmoniously it will be combined with other pieces of furniture. It is easiest to choose abstraction for a minimalist interior, because the bright walls serve as a perfect background for any colors and shapes that are depicted in the picture. However, it is more interesting for a decorator to incorporate abstraction into a historical style with its richness and abundance of decorations.
But what is most important, in my opinion, is the fact that the painting must first of all appeal to the owner himself, because only he and his immediate surroundings will look at it almost every day. It simply has to make them happy.
