What emotions and feelings did the decision to end your career as a dancer trigger in you? Can you please elaborate more in depth?
I felt sadness and disappointment at having to leave my longtime dream and passion. I couldn't imagine life without dance. But I was in a lot of pain, and that made me not come to the next class. It felt like everything was over, empty. But life is beautiful in that we have to move on, so I found comfort and a sense of fulfillment in the horses.
How did you cope with having more free time, which you used to devote to dancing? What was that like for you?
Transitioning from an active dance life to a time when I had more free time was very challenging for me. It was a very difficult period for me that required a lot of self-reflection and finding new ways. However, after some time I understood that my life did not end with the end of my career as a dancer, but instead a new path opened up where I could discover new passions and interests.
How did you discover your passion for painting? How does this activity enrich you? Can you please provide more details?
I discovered painting thanks to my family, where art is highly valued. My relatives are very talented and most of them paint, sing or play a musical instrument. I myself went to the School of Fine Arts where I took up painting. But after I finished my dancing career, I was not inspired to draw for a long time. It wasn't until I returned to dance, which included a horse, that I started painting again. This activity is rewarding because it allows me to express my feelings and emotions that I couldn't put into words.
What is your relationship with horses and how do they enrich your life?
For me, a horse is not only an animal, but also a friend and a teacher. I grew up with horses in our family and have been in contact with them from a very young age. They teach me how to communicate, be patient and at the same time provide me with peace and calmness. The horse is also a great inspiration to me, both in life and in painting. It is extremely important for me to have horses in my life and I can't imagine living without them.
Could you fill us in on what your life is like after your dance career? What aspects of your current life do you feel are key to maintaining happiness and balance outside of the world of ballet?
The important thing for me is to have another passion to replace the dance one. Dance, like any sport, works almost like a drug for many dancers - when you quit, life can seem empty. Therefore, it is imperative to have another source of joy and fulfillment, lest one succumb to depression.
Can you tell us about your plans for the future? Are you going to do anything other than painting and looking after horses, which are currently the core of your activities?
First and foremost, I am devoted to my son, who means the world to me. Besides that, I would like to start a new style of dance, specifically flamenco. But let's not forget that caring for horses is not just a hobby for me, but an important part of my life.
Can you tell us more about your new role as horse care and riding? How are you adapting to this new lifestyle?
Instead of going to the gym, I now go to the stable. It's a completely different way of life, but it brings me immense joy.
How do you feel when you spend time with the horses? What emotions does this activity evoke in you?
When I am with horses, I feel completely authentic. It's like coming back to myself. Working with horses brings me a lot of joy. Just being around them calms me down. But what really fulfills me is the opportunity to learn something new and educate myself in horsemanship.
What other "doors" have opened up for you since you retired from dancing?
After finishing my dance career, I found myself at a crossroads where I was able to open new "doors" and take a different path in life. One of these new opportunities became working with children who don't have it easy in life. This work is extremely fulfilling and gives me a sense of satisfaction and joy in being able to help those who really need it. In addition, quitting my dancing career has allowed me to pursue more of my other passion, namely equestrianism. I can now devote my time to equine therapy and furthering my education in this area.
What would you say to people who are afraid to end their current career and open new doors?
We all reach a point in our lives where we have to decide whether to continue in our current career or try something new. This moment is often accompanied by fear and uncertainty. However, I would like to say to these people that although fear is natural, they should not be discouraged. Every end is also a new beginning. If there is a door that you want or need to close, it is for a reason. But believe that when you close one door, a new one opens. And that new door can lead to something much better and more satisfying. But you have to want it and believe it's possible.
