Description
In the painting *The Mirror Speaks*, Klaudie Švrčková depicts a woman with her head bowed over her reflection. One face above, the other below—the same lips, the same silence. It is unclear which of them is real and which is merely a reflection.
The artist works in her characteristic impasto style with strong contours. The gray scale keeps the entire scene in suspense; the red lips are the only point of distinction. A silent dialogue emerges between what we see and what we dare to admit.
A hand-painted original that poses a wordless question within the space. A painting that makes you hold your breath for a moment.
